Puddling an ancient pond and building a dry stone wall were excellent ways to celebrate my 40th birthday. Sleeping in a Mediaeval barn was the icing on the cake (we lasses were up on the Minstrels’ Gallery – wouldn’t be allowed today due to ‘elf n safety!). And candles in the wall crevices would certainly not be allowed – but what a fantastic group of volunteers to be with. I have loads of photos from that working holiday – when I find them, I will add them to this site. If you were on that working holiday, I would love to hear from you.
